The Cup is suitable for both hot and cold drinks – coffee, tea, juice, water, and even cocktails/beer.
- Use the protective sleeve when handling hot liquids.
- Avoid closing the top-flip lid when the beverage is above ~70°C (150°F) – steam pressure can build up, which may pop the lid open and potentially damage the locking mechanism over time.
- Can be used for carbonated or fermented drinks – just keep the top lid open to let the pressure escape, especially with highly fizzy beverages.
- The Cup is microwave-safe.

Yes, the Origami Cup is safe for hot drinks. It’s made for both hot and cold beverages, including milk-based drinks.

The cup body is made from a premium thermoplastic polymer blend (TPS, PP/SEBS) developed by Kraiburg TPE (Germany) and is BPA/BPS-free. The lid is leakproof and made of polypropylene (PP) with a silicone gasket seal. 

No, the Origami Bottle & Cup are not isothermal. This can be achieved only with double-wall stainless steel vessels. Unfortunately, no material currently available has the properties to fold and be isothermal at the same time.

The folding creases are on the outside, while the inside surface is smooth and glossy for easier cleaning. The cup is dishwasher-safe, but for best results, we recommend cleaning by hand with a sponge. Always air dry completely before folding and storing.

Yes, it is recyclable in the following way: 

  • Cup body + Lid: You can recycle them together with #5 PP (polypropylene) plastics. The bottle body material is certified for PP recycling by CYCLOS-HTP Institute in Germany. (Link to Certificate — look for TF#CMB-a_x.). The lid is made from #5 PP (polypropylene).
  • HDPE sorting: The main material is also certified for #2 HDPE sorting. (Link to Certificate)
  • Gasket ring: The silicone gasket should be disposed of as general waste.
